Radio Frequency Spectrum Licence Fees

[23 March 2018] ICASA has given notice of the annual increase to be implemented in respect of radio frequency spectrum licence fees. The new fees will effective from 1 April 2018 and will increase by 5.3% based on the average Consumer Price Index (CPI).

Notice in terms of Regulation 9A of Radio Frequency Spectrum Licence Fee Amendment Regulations 2015

Effective 1 April 2016, all radio frequency spectrum licence fees will be increased by 6.4% based on the average Consumer Price Index (CPI).

Effective  1 April 2016, all radio frequency spectrum licence fees will be increased by 4.6% based on the average Consumer Price Index (CPI).

[1 April 2015] ICASA has finalised this process, publishing the Radio Frequency Spectrum Fees Amendment Regulations 2015 in the Government Gazette on 30 March 2015. The amendments came into force on the date of publication.

[8 December 2014] ICASA has published notice of its intention to amend the Radio Frequency Spectrum Fees Regulations 2010.

Draft Radio Frequency Spectrum Fees Amendment Regulations 2014

The closing date for submissions is 13 February 2014.

The primary objectives of the proposed amendments are to accommodate use of bands above 50 GHz and to provide for a discount in the calculation of fees to be paid by security services for use of spectrum.
